DeMarre Carroll is an American professional basketball player, for the Brooklyn Nets. He first garnered attention on the court during high school, at John Carroll Catholic High in Birmingham, Alabama; leading the Cavaliers to back-to-back Alabama Class 6A State Titles. In his final two seasons at John Carroll, DeMarre guided his team to a combined 67-3 record and was the recipient of first team All-State, All-Area, All-Region, All-District, and All-Metro.

DeMarre’s high school success quickly carried over to Vanderbilt where he had a FG% of .500 and .511 in his first two seasons with Commodores.  After his sophomore season, DeMarre transferred to Missouri to play for his uncle Mike Anderson. He picked up right where he left off at Vanderbilt and lead the Tigers to the Elite Eight in the 2009 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

DeMarre was drafted in the first round of the 2009 NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. During his rookie season with the Grizzlies, DeMarre appeared  in 71 games and averaged over 11 minutes per game to go along with 209 points for the season. DeMarre was acquired by the Utah Jazz following, and quickly become a fan favorite in the area for his toughness, versatility and overall hustle day in and day out which led to his nickname of the “Junk Yard Dog”. DeMarre appeared in 66 games for the Jazz in the 2012-13 NBA season, averaging over 16.8 minutes per contest and providing the team with tremendous resiliency.

DeMarre signed with the Atlanta Hawks during his 2013 NBA off season. DeMarre emerged as a leader on the Hawks team as an every-day starter, while posting career high in points steals and rebounds. He is averaged 9.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game for the Hawks that season. Carroll was a reliable starter that specialized in defense for the Hawks.

DeMarre signed with the Toronto Raptors during his 2015 NBA off season. During his time in Toronto, he has been a great asset to the team with his strong defensive presence and community work within the Greater Toronto Area.
